Night Hike at Sodalis Nature Preserve
There will be a Night Hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10 called Momma Bats and Baby Bats.
Momma bats bear young from mid-May through mid-June. Gale Rublee, interpreter guide at Hannibal Parks & Recreation. Said most bats have one, sometimes two babies. “Just like human babies, bat babies have to be fed, protected, taken care of, and loved on. How do mother bats do this? At least there’s no diapers to change!” The program is free and open to the public but participation is limited. Register for space at www.hannibalparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program.
Participants will meet at the new Sodalis Shelter on Ely Street. The full program will last about two hours and covers a two-mile paved loop with a steep incline but there are options for a shorter time period.

Scavenger Hunts
The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department has developed Scavenger Hunts to encourage visitors to the Hannibal parks. Hannibal children, along with visitors to Hannibal, will have a chance to explore our parks in a different way. These free activities allow participants to learn more about Hannibal Parks and to earn a free treat from a local business in the process!
Here are the scavenger hunts available so far (check back for future additions).
