Night Hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve
DATE AND TIME
07/26/2024 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Hot summer days are the perfect setting for nature programs at Sodalis Nature Preserve.
A Night Hike at Sodalis Nature Preserve called Bats Eat Bugs will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 26.
Sodalis Nature Preserve was acquired by the city of Hannibal almost 10 years ago to conserve the abandoned mine that serves as home for more than 200,000 endangered bats. Hannibal Parks & Recreation’s Interpreter Guide Gale Rublee said these bats are eating mosquitos and lots of other insects.
The full program is about two hours and covers a 2-mile paved loop with a steep incline. Participants have the option to return sooner as desired.
Programs are free and open to the public but participation is limited. Register for space at www.hannibalparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program

Scavenger Hunts
The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department has developed Scavenger Hunts to encourage visitors to the Hannibal parks. Hannibal children, along with visitors to Hannibal, will have a chance to explore our parks in a different way. These free activities allow participants to learn more about Hannibal Parks and to earn a free treat from a local business in the process!
Here are the scavenger hunts available so far (check back for future additions).
