The boat ramp and marina at Nipper Park will be closed for two weeks starting Oct. 7 so Hannibal Parks & Recreation personnel can dredge without interruption.
Boats docked in marina slips should be taken out by 8 a.m. Oct. 7. Boaters will be able to use the marina ramp each evening once dredging is completed for the day. The length of closure will depend on weather and complications.
HPR purchased a Mud Cat MC 115D Dredge from Ellicott Dredge Technologies two years ago. The dredge vacuums up the unwanted sediment and debris and pumps it to a dredge pit south of the marina. The sediment becomes fill soil that can be recycled throughout the park system.
