The Hannibal Aquatic Center will not be open for the summer 2020 season as an abundance of caution to keep patrons and employees safe during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Based on significant restrictions on attendance and strict social distancing requirements, Hannibal Parks & Recreation cannot safely and responsibly open the Aquatic Center this year.
The City of Hannibal is joining numerous other municipalities across the state that have closed their aquatic centers and pools for the summer.
Hannibal parks have remained open for recreational purposes, with patrons encouraged to observe social distancing. Athletic fields are also open for use, with group sizes limited and physical distancing required.
Several Hannibal Parks & Recreation facilities will tentatively reopen on June 1 with some changes to meet social distancing guidelines. This date is subject to change based on federal, state or local guidelines.
- The Ramp Park at Huckleberry Park will reopen.
- Shelters may be reserved at Central, Riverview and Huckleberry Park and Y’Men’s Pavilion.
- Restrooms at Riverview Park, Central Park, Huckleberry Park and Y’Men’s Pavilion will reopen.
However, the Admiral Coontz Recreation will not reopen until Aug. 31.
Park playgrounds will remain closed indefinitely, as mandated by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.
